Golda tells us how from we’ve come and why she’s running on October 3 at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.

I am running for myself and all other breast cancer survivors
For the first time, I will be participating in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure this October as a Breast Cancer Survivor.
If I was destined to fight cancer in my lifetime, I am very fortunate to have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I worked at a cancer health charity for 15 years starting in 1992 and I remember our Communications team struggling with ways to promote the month of October without being able to use the word “breast” in any form of media.

beaucoup.

Lauren may not be able to run the 5K for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, but she has family and friends to carry her through.

My name is Lauren Scott and I am now a breast cancer survivor! I have participate in the Candian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure with my team Bobbies for Boobies for about six years. My fellow employees at the Kingston Police (along with friends and family) and I, have enjoyed being involved with this great cause over the past years.
Well last December, one week before I turned 40, I found a lump in my breast. In January I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My family and friends rallied around me like a safety net! I had more support and love then I knew what to do with. And I knew that I had to fight! I had two surgeries, chemo, and radiation. I finished on Sept 7th! I am now on the road to recovery. I find it ironic that my follow up appointment with my surgeon is Oct 1st, the Friday before the Run! So, I can truly wear my pink T-shirt this year, and wear it with pride!
I did not have anyone in my family with breast cancer, and did not know anyone personally when I decided to enter a Team all those years ago. I just knew that as a woman it was the right thing to do for all of us and our daughters and their daughters! Now, I am so glad that I did!
I may not be able to run the whole 5km this year, but just like they have over the last hard months, I know my family, friends, and co-workers will carry me through!
Yours Truly,
The Head Boob of “Bobbies for Boobies”
Lauren Scott
Join Lauren on October 3 and let’s create a future without breast cancer.
We’d like you to meet Chloe, one of our youngest Team Captains for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. She’s running for her mom.

I want let you know about my daughter’s efforts and her team “Chloe’s Cancer Crushers”.
I am her mother, and I was diagnosed when I was 32 and she was only 6 months old. My son was 3 years old at the time.
I was the Survivor Spokesperson for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure Calgary in 2003. I also spoke at the Survivors Parade.
My daughter decided this summer that she wanted to do a “report” on breast cancer. She started researching on the internet, and she is at the point right now where she is typing her report and is going to transfer it all to poster board.

One of 2010 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure’s Run Rewards are the Eyewear Pink® Sunglasses Kelly Model. Find out about the woman they are named after and her inspiring story of hope.

After being diagnosed with invasive ductile cancer in my seventh month of pregnancy at the young age of 35, I experienced the true meaning of mortality. With a two-year-old at home and another on the way, I felt that I had everything to live for and was devastated and fearful that I wouldn’t see the day when my beautiful babies would grow into beautiful people.
