Bradley Hansraj is running in the 2013 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure for his mother, Brynda Hansraj, who was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. Brynda has been cancer free since finishing her treatment back then.
Four years ago we got the most devastating news that any family could ever receive: a breast cancer diagnosis. Upon receiving the news, although shock and sadness overwhelmed us, we consoled my mother the best we could. Our family had to remain strong, if not for ourselves then for her. But the strength we displayed was nothing compared to my mother’s resilience and resolve during that difficult time. Her courage was an inspiration to us all.
This wonderful woman has always provided the support that kept us standing tall and the hand that pulled us up when we’d fall. She was the shoulder to cry on, providing a listening ear to confide in. She was the heart of our family and STILL is. The survivor that I’m referring to is my dearest mother, whose unconditional love is the most precious and treasured gift I’ve ever received. That is why I have decided to take part in the CIBC Run for the Cure. After all she has done for me, how could I not do this for her?
So I am running for Brynda Hansraj and for all those who have experienced cancer. I am running for the memories of those who are no longer with us, in hopes that our contributions will assist in a cancer-free world, ensuring the well-being of women and men everywhere. Together we can and will achieve this goal. One step at a time, with all our steps combined, we will run for the cure.
