Meet the Queen’s University Rugby Team for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure!

Winning 11 championship titles requires unity and determination. And so does raising over $100,000 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. These are both remarkable accomplishments of the Queen’s University Rugby Team.

Rugby is a notoriously rough-and-tumble game. In a rugby scrum, the players interlock, put their shoulders into it and advance up the field. At the Run, the players may not be interlocked, but they are shoulder to shoulder and over 100 runners strong, united and powerful, just as they are on the rugby pitch.

Breast cancer has touched the players differently, but each and every one of them is deeply passionate about supporting the cause. The players connect with students all across campus, to raise funds and awareness for the cause. Veteran players pass the commitment down to the rookies, and the tradition continues.

On the rugby pitch, they may only be allowed to pass the ball backward, but they give forward, helping to create a future without breast cancer.
