I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in August 2006. I want you to know that even though this type of breast cancer is considered the worst, the only true thing we can say is that you just never know.

I made a conscious choice that cancer would be part of my life, not control my life.

There were lots of tears and lots of laughter too.

I had a double mastectomy on May 1, 2007. I was always going to lose the left breast, and chose to remove the right prophylactically. I have no regrets.

It is now 36 months since diagnosis and 27 months since surgery. I am in remission.
